The Legend Chiang Rai Boutique River Resort and Spa

Mr. Eric, the GM, was especially pleasant and helpful. The peaceful poolside setting and amazing river view made the hotel feel like a serene retreat, with convenient access from the location. My holiday at The Legend Chiang Rai was excellent, with very comfortable, clean rooms and impeccable service from the staff. It’s an ideal choice and great value. ✨😌🌴

The Legend felt like it belonged in Chiang Rai. I wish we’d had longer there, since the city turned out to be much more than a quick stop for tourist sites. After Bangkok, this quaint, cozy resort was a lovely change. It’s not highly polished, but that adds to its charm. The place is peaceful, though nature makes plenty of noise. Birds are always chirping and the frogs are remarkably persistent, but I slept deeply with that as the background sound. We felt very welcome.

We meant to stay four days and ended up extending to ten, which says a lot. It’s a hidden gem, intimate and well organized, with traditional Thai decor and a good overall size. The rooms are spacious at 50 square meters, with balconies and huge shower rooms, and everything was very clean. Breakfast had a great variety and a river view, and there’s an infinity pool surrounded by nice gardens. The warm, welcoming staff gave great service. Eric, the hotel manager, leads with style and is always around to make sure you’re satisfied, with tips and guidance for getting around.

The breakfast was great, and the location was good, but this stay didn’t match the other hotels we tried in Thailand. We found lower prices elsewhere for better service, including in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. The experience here was okay, just not great. The pool was cloudy and didn’t seem clean. When we asked about it, an employee removed three leaves and left. The fitness room is old and needs an update. There were instructions everywhere telling guests what not to use or do, which made us uncomfortable. More free water would also have been good.
