One Budget Chiangsaen

We’d happily come back to One Budget Chiang Saen. It’s modern, quiet, and in a convenient spot, with clean rooms, a comfortable bed, and friendly staff. Very good value for the money, and I’d recommend it.

The rooms are fresh and really clean, and I’d recommend asking for one on the river side. Breakfast is included. Restaurants nearby were expensive, so you may need to eat elsewhere. There are local shops about 10 minutes away.

Once it gets dark, the lights on the Lao side of the river make the view breathtaking. Our rooms were listed as river view on the hotel website, and at check-in everything went smoothly. We’d booked two in advance, and both had the promised view, including an unbelievable look across to the country of Lao. The rooms sit almost over the river Khong. They were huge, with two connected open-plan areas, a massive TV, a sitting area, and a very comfortable oversized bed. There’s a riverside restaurant just a 50 metre walk away, and the spot is great for stopping to relax. For anything else, a nearby 7/11 at the Golden Triangle scenic point is a five minute drive. At 1500 baht per night including breakfast, it felt well worth the price. Cheaper rooms without the view are available, but they’re nowhere near as good. My only complaint was that the room had paper cups instead of proper glasses. We’ll be back, and bring our own.

oh man, we stayed last night at the new One budget build. You can hear people in other rooms making gross noises, 5-6 times from different rooms. The walls don’t block sound, it felt like they were right in your room. Gross! 👎🏻
