River Breeze Chiangsaen

We came back for lunch, and the food and menu were good. The croissants were excellent, including the one I had with chicken and Sriracha sauce. I also tried a passionfruit espresso, which was excellent. We’d first come around 9am hoping to try the Flow Cafe’s breakfast menu, but the kitchen didn’t open until 10am. That seemed odd at first, though the menu clearly says brunch. Staff explained that guests can get a buffet breakfast when 10 or more rooms are booked, which makes sense.

I don’t recommend staying here. I should have done my homework and checked the reviews on this site before booking. The photos make it look nice, but in person the hotel seemed old and almost empty. We were visiting a friend and still had work to do, and the internet was the worst in the area. The Wi-Fi listed in the room wouldn’t show up. When I went to the lobby, staff weren’t sure which signal our room could use, and said the second floor didn’t get a good signal. That was a big problem for me, since I couldn’t work. I had to check out five minutes after checking in. Staff didn’t offer anything, and there was no refund.

The coffee and bakery are still very good, but it’s not such a good place anymore. The **** casino on Lao's side is just annoying. The shower was run down, the balcony door wouldn’t close, and the mosquito net was broken. Still, the welcome and the people were nice!

The room price was reasonable, and I’ll definitely come back. My room was very clean, the bed comfortable, and the view right by the Mekong River was excellent. The reception staff were very friendly.
