Kantary Hotel, Amata Bangpakong

The condition of the room was disappointing. We could hear doors, footsteps, and furniture moving in neighboring rooms throughout the night because the walls were so thin. The air conditioning units seemed poorly maintained, the outdoor condenser on the balcony was filthy, and the high synthetic pillows made it hard to sleep. I also felt Thai guests were treated as second-class compared with long-stay expatriates or corporate groups. Hospitality should be the same for guests of every nationality. We booked two rooms together through a major online travel agent and paid over 2,000 THB per room, so the experience fell well below what I expected for the price and the hotel's standing. At arrival, nobody was at the drop-off point to help with our luggage. I waited, then drove to the parking lot myself, and the bell staff only helped after I asked directly. Check-in was the worst part. Around 4:00 PM, the female receptionist spoke aggressively and disrespectfully when she asked for IDs for my elderly parents. She didn't explain where the elevators were, when breakfast was served, or what facilities the hotel had. Our rooms were also far apart despite the booking. When I called to ask about changing them, I got a blunt "No" with no effort to be helpful or polite. I often stay at international chains and hotels in a similar tier, and the lack of service mind here was appalling. It reflects badly on the management and brand, especially the front desk staff member who checked me in.
