Chanita Hotel Chumphon

The bathroom pipe gave off a strong smell, and the walkway floor was very slippery. There was also a lot of noise: the water pumps, reception conversations, sounds from the next room, and people on the stairs made it hard to sleep, especially for a light sleeper. There’s no elevator, and nobody offered to help with our luggage. The location is less appealing than other nearby options. Reception and security were extremely aggressive, offered no help, smiles or greetings, and the front office lady even tried to pocket the room payment instead of giving an invoice. We don’t recommend this place.

The continental breakfast bar is something I really like, though it creates too much plastic waste. There’s no sanitation issue with letting guests use the original jam jars instead of little plastic cups, and it would feel more homely. This was a great stopover, but the bathroom could use hooks and similar fittings.

For 590 baht, we got a large room and a comfortable stay. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and cereal, crackers and pot noodles were included. The staff were very helpful, and one of the ladies carried our bags to the room. One downside: the extra blanket for the second bed cost 50 baht and was actually a large towel, which wasn’t very soft or comfortable.

There’s plenty of parking right in front of this clean, modern hotel. Nights are calm, since there aren’t any bars or restaurants next door. It’s a little outside the city center, but you can walk or rent a scooter. Staff know only a little English, though Google Translate helps a lot.
