Salsa Hostel

I stayed two nights and found the hostel nice and regularly cleaned. It’s just a few minutes from the train station. Reception can help arrange a trip to Koh Tao Island, including a shuttle to the port. What meant most to me was how attentive, friendly and helpful the owner was. He also looks after a disabled cat, and I’m grateful to him 🙏. Nearby there’s a restaurant with European breakfast and meals, plus a cafe where you can paint with oil paints while having a drink.

I spent a couple of nights here while passing through on the way to the islands. Chumpon is a useful stop for reaching ko tao and elsewhere, and the hostel sells tickets for catamaran transport to the three islands. The owner is clearly a cat lover, with cats wandering around and enjoying cuddles. He’s helpful, honest and easygoing. If I end up in Chumpon again, I’d stay here.

The room was really spacious and clean, and there were shops, street food and restaurants around the hostel, including 7/11. My friend and I stayed one night in a double room before going to Koh Tao, and booked transport to the Pier at reception for a good price. The only thing I didn’t like was having one big blanket for two people. I’d rather have one each.

Sood was a sweet and helpful owner. He sorted out information about the ferry to Koh Tao and buses, even though I hadn’t booked everything through him. The bed was super comfy, and there was a nice little breakfast in the morning with coffee or tea, toast, peanut butter and jelly, and a banana. Cold water and a gang of cute cats were there too 😺. If you want to stay in the room after checkout, you can pay 150 baht extra. Good experience 👍
