Tree Scape Retreat Resort

The restaurant was a real highlight, with fresh, tasty food, plenty of choice, and prices below what we found in the city. The staff there were especially caring and attentive. We chose this hotel for its secluded natural setting while still being close to Chiang Mai, about a 15-minute drive from the city center. It feels like staying in the jungle, and the hotel is thoughtfully designed. We only wish we'd stayed longer. Hope to return!

The two-storey family rooms are huge, and our kid loved ours so much they barely wanted to leave. The restaurant food was delicious, and the view over the pond was lovely. It feels like a jungle, with lots of loud frogs at night, but otherwise it's very quiet with no traffic sounds. Service comes with plenty of smiles, and the staff are kind to children. A few drawbacks: there's no convenience store nearby, though 7-Eleven is about a four-minute drive away, and there are snack vending machines and beer at the restaurant. The cabinets smelled damp and had a little mold. The pools were very cold in February despite the warm weather. The two smaller pools seem to belong with the adjoining rooms, so using them can feel like intruding on their privacy.

The resort has a spa that I really enjoyed, and there are nice places to eat within walking distance. It's a little far from the city center, but they offer free taxi rides there at 2PM and 4PM. The apartments were spacious and clean, with very comfortable beds, and the staff were so kind. Bring earplugs, though, because the garden frogs get loud at night.

A lovely hidden spot, peaceful and secluded but still only minutes from the royal garden, carp cafe, and water park, and around a 15-minute drive to downtown Chiang Mai. The grounds mix beautiful patios and pergolas with rooms and pools, all woven through with impressive fauna. Everything was spotless, including the pools, and I was impressed by how clean the water was. A really cool blend of nature and infrastructure.
