Diamond Plaza Hatyai Hotel

The location was the part I liked, and the front desk staff were smiley and helpful. There was plenty of parking, though the lot was messy, had no CCTV at all, and its layout made it easy to scrape the bottom of the car. Inside, the hotel's age showed: old lamps, a hairdryer, leaking ceilings, and dirty windows. The room door had a big gap where you could see inside, and the scratched bathtub was dirty too.

Our room was spacious and clean, with beverage packets provided, and the busy touristy corner of Hatyai made it handy for getting to the market for simple breakfast and shopping. The hotel seems past its glorious days, though, and all its restaurants had shut. Reception was efficient but unfriendly. Of the four receptionists there, one was working flat out while the others seemed lackadaisical.

I used to stay here more than 10 years ago, in Hatyai's golden age, and expected the standards to hold up. They haven't. The front desk was helpful and spoke a few languages, and you can walk to the main street, but the cafe and other facilities have closed. The rooms and facilities feel run down and dated, with no upgrades. They did replace the carpet with wooden tiles, which looked cleaner, but everything else was old and stained. For my money, the price tag doesn't fit what you get. Still, for just two nights, I think it's acceptable.

19 - 23 Mar 2025 My spouse and I arrived early in the morning, and the staff kindly let us check into one room first. My family and I had booked five rooms for three nights. There was no noise on our side of the rooms, which we were glad about, though the soundproofing wasn't great on my family's side. The non-connecting room was more spacious than the connecting ones. In general, the rooms were comfortable, but quite old and in need of repairs to stay competitive. At S$40 per night, I think there are better deals around, though I wouldn't mind coming back if it were cheaper.
