River Grand Hotel Hat Yai

The clean, comfortable beds and the friendly receptionist were the bright spots. She spoke Malay and was genuinely helpful. The location was quiet, and parking seemed to fit around 20 to 25 cars. We had a Family Room with two double beds on level 6, but there was dust everywhere. The floor left my feet black after walking around briefly, so I wiped it with the foot towel by the toilet. The wardrobe, the space underneath, and the hanging rail were dusty too, so we left our bags out and hung clothes on the chairs and sofa. The air conditioner was really noisy at night, and its filters were packed with dust. In the bathroom the shower head was broken, so I took it off and showered from the hose. The water was dirty and seemed poor quality. Also, the receptionist was pretty... pretty, seriously, her face reminded me of Haiza dak dik duk.

We’ve usually been happy here. The hotel is conveniently placed for getting around the spot area, and both the room and bathroom are clean. The staff are generally very friendly. But on Saturday night, 12th July 2025, the female front desk staff member was rude and unprofessional. That was really disappointing, and it may mean we don’t stay here again.

The one real plus is the location, within walking distance of the downtown centre. The room was okay, old, and somewhere between clean and dirty. When I left my bags, they put them outside by the restaurant, which felt like a risk for losing them. Two big buses from Malaysia arrived while I was there, and the guests were loud all night, opening room doors, talking together, and jumping around. I told the staff, but they couldn’t do anything about a big group of guests who showed no respect for others. It felt like a zoo. Fine for low-budget tourists, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you want a peaceful night or good quality.

The parking is huge, the receptionist was nice, and the hotel is near tourist spots. The toilet, though, wasn’t very clean, either in the lobby or in the room. Its door was damaged and moldy, there was no tissue, and the small floor got wet easily. The sofa, bed, and interior also felt old.
