Hinn - Namm Hotel

It’s a good value hotel, and I’ve stayed here many times. But too many things don’t work: the water pipes are loud, about 70% of the lights are burnt out, and handles on things are broken. For the last three years I’ve stayed here while looking for somewhere else to stay.

The affordable room rates are good value, and the rooms are fairly spacious with some nice touches of color. Hin Nam Hotel in Hua Hin feels a bit like a converted condominium. It’s quite a distance from the city center, which is manageable if you have a car but inconvenient if you depend on public transport. There’s no room service, though a restaurant right next door is easy to walk to. The nearest 7-Eleven is also quite far away. A decent budget stay with comfortable rooms, especially if you have your own transport.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel is well located, and the children enjoyed the pool. There’s a little karaoke downstairs for adults, and the nights are quiet. Still, I wouldn’t recommend it. The room wasn’t very clean and looked better in the photos. The air conditioning blows straight onto the bed, so it’s too hot when off and too cold when on, and it makes noise. We couldn’t get WiFi because they said “the sensor is far from your room,” and there was no hot water.

We stayed three nights in the old building, so these comments are about that part only. The pool was really great, and the staff we met were super nice, though the place did seem understaffed. One elevator also appeared to be out of order. I’d make a point of trying the new building if I came back. The room was old and needed some care. Bathroom windows wouldn’t close fully, so mosquitoes kept getting in; we had to keep the bathroom door shut to avoid more bites at night. The air conditioner had a bright light that couldn’t be switched off, shining onto the bed. There weren’t many sockets, and one didn’t work. Several things took over an hour to sort out. Some bulbs were broken when we arrived, and maintenance took that long but still didn’t fix all the lights. The main switch was awkwardly placed on the far side of the bed and took a while to find. After housekeeping removed the used towels, they didn’t leave replacements, so we waited ages for them. We hadn’t wanted housekeeping in the first place, but there were no “do not disturb” signs, and staff said they don’t provide them.
