Tamnanpar Resort

The rooms are clean and spacious, but breakfast has a limited menu and isn't that great.

We live nearby and visit often, and my kids and their friends love the water park. Thai food has usually been good quality and decent value, but today we tried some Western dishes and were really disappointed. They were expensive and disgusting. My chicken salad had only a few vegetables, and they weren't very fresh. Some lettuce was mouldy. There were about five slices of chicken breast, with no seasoning, and it was clearly cooked, sliced, and then frozen. My daughter's burger wasn't much better. The bun was stale and crumbled when she bit into it, the fries had been reheated, and we still couldn't work out what meat was in the burger. My son's margarita pizza had a soggy base with no colour or flavour, and the toppings weren't much better. We won't order Western food here again. The Thai food is usually very good, so maybe their chef was sick today.

The Caesar salad tasted okay, but the fish was very oily. I managed a few bites, then found the chips stale and disgusting, like they'd been picked out of the rubbish. My friends shared some of their meals with me. After that, I spent the whole night vomiting. I believe I got food poisoning from either the tartare sauce or the Caesar dressing.

It's a peaceful, picturesque resort, very family oriented, with a beautiful lake and swimming pools around all the rooms. The grounds are very clean, and the water park looks clean and well kept. Staff were attentive, breakfast was good with Thai and Western options, and a songtaw can take you from the rooms to breakfast so you don't have to walk. The rooms are very big, and the location is good, just a short drive to the beach and markets. I'd recommend the resort and stay again. The one reason I wouldn't give the room five stars is the very large shower window. Direct sun brings in a lot of heat, making the bathroom very hot, and the air conditioner can't keep up with the room when the sun is shining straight in. It's a minor issue, really.
