We’re in Bangkok and spent a few days here with our dogs. They settled in happily, and we did too. Our bungalow was lovely and almost right on the beach, and the whole resort felt clean and well looked after. The staff were especially friendly and accommodating. We picked the place because dogs are welcome, which was a big plus for us. Breakfast is fresh and enough, though there isn’t much variety. Sitting down for breakfast or dinner is still a pleasure. The restaurant food could use a few improvements, but that’s a small quibble. I work in the industry and can be overly critical, so I think a bit of staff training here and there could help. Still, I’d recommend the resort. We’ve finally found a good spot on Koh Chang for us and the dogs, and we’ll be back. 100 points, thumbs up.

The bungalow needs some care. The mattress feels ancient and has sunk into one shape, the toilet makes noises, the shower water is lukewarm, the air con is dirty, and the window door doesn’t lock properly. It all feels worn out. Breakfast was just okay, I guess. And hotel guests still have to pay by the hour to rent a kayak. The setting, though, is gorgeous. It’s on a green hillside with mature trees full of lovely birds, and waking up to the beach and their morning calls was a treat. There are three little islands close offshore, so it’s a great base for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and other water activities.

We booked a morning snorkel trip to Koh Yuak and used the resort kayaks. Kun Joom ran the boat and was a wonderful Thai gentleman. We only wanted to snorkel around one island, and he took us to the best parts of the magnificent reef. It rivals Indonesian reefs. Ask reception about Kun Joon’s snorkel trip! The resort itself is lovely too. The staff are wonderful, the food is very good, and there are two pools as well as villas with private pools. The pools and beach were very clean, and the surroundings are beautiful. Looking from the resort toward the mountains, the view reminded us of Tahiti. There are four funny cats around the property. You can walk along the beach to a 7/11 and a supermarket. Go at low tide, or you’ll need to climb over some rocks unless you’re okay wading ankle-deep.

My girlfriend and I loved our stay at Siam Bay Resort and would absolutely recommend it to anyone coming to Koh Chang. The beaches are peaceful and beautiful, with lovely scenery all around, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and glad to help. We hired a bike through Joyful Tours And Travels and got a local SIM card, which made it easy to explore the island and added a lot to the trip.

The bay is sheltered by an island, so the sea was fairly calm. I had a great time staying in a bungalow close to the water, and the staff were helpful. The restaurant food was fair to good and reasonably priced.
