G9 Hotel Kanchanaburi

The hotel is a little out of the way, so having a bike, car, or taxi may be necessary. Still, there's a mall and some restaurants within walking distance, so food isn't a problem. I liked the place a lot. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and felt safe.

After we came back from dinner around 9 or 10 p.m., I found ants swarming toward my donuts. I called the staff, and they came quickly and cleaned it up. My boyfriend and I had been resting in the room around 7 p.m. before going out. Later, after playing cards until about 2 a.m., I pulled back the blanket and spotted small menstrual stains on the sheet. The staff member replaced the mattress, though it took a while, and I understand he wasn't a housekeeper. I don't think an apology was needed, but he kept walking in and out wearing his shoes, which made me wonder about the hotel's cleanliness standards. It might help to train staff to handle situations like this more efficiently and hygienically.

They don't even provide a bowl or cutlery.

I only discovered G9 on the day of my trip. I'd booked another hotel in town through Agoda after looking at Google reviews, but when I arrived it looked nothing like the photos. The air conditioner barely cooled. They offered to move me after I complained, but I didn't like how they spoke to me and couldn't stay there. I found G9 and arrived around 4 PM, asking at reception if a room was available for one night. They had one, and gave us a Mountain View room when I requested it. The walk-in weekend price was nearly 1400THB for the night. I extended for Sunday too, at nearly 1000THB for that room. Both rates included a breakfast buffet. The staff were welcoming and humble. Their English was limited, but we could communicate fine. If you're coming by car, this is a hidden gem in Kachanaburi. I also liked the very tiny market in the lobby. Totally worth it.
