The place was clean and had a nice atmosphere, but I left pretty disappointed. It met the basic standard, though at this price the rooms felt much too average. There’s not really anything to do at the hotel, and no cafe or food service. Breakfast was just average Thai dishes made to order. The counter was empty because everything had run out, with no refills. I’d rate the stay about 5.5/10 overall.

It’s a quiet, romantic spot right by the river, with lovely furnishings and very kind staff who give good service. The hotel feels like a distinctive little boutique place. Getting around is the downside. It’s some distance from everything, and restaurants are about a 20-minute drive away, so having a car is necessary.

The riverfront setting feels peaceful and private, helped by the hotel’s small number of rooms. There’s an outdoor pool, free WiFi, and free parking, and guests often praise the staff. The breakfast, with buffet and à la carte choices, is often described as delicious. Rooms are comfortable and well kept, and the hotel is consistently noted for being very clean. Some people feel it could offer better value for the money, but its charm and calm surroundings stand out. I’m writing to alert future guests to a serious safety problem at Historykan Hotel, Kanchanaburi. During our stay from 17-19 December 2025, my mother slipped near the pool and broke her leg. The floor and steps there were extremely slippery, there was no handrail, and no warning signs. Afterward, management said they already knew about the hazard and that construction at the hotel was still ongoing, so it was not fully completed. Guests were still allowed to use the area despite the known danger. Management tried to put responsibility on the construction company, but the hotel still has a duty to keep guests safe and should not operate unsafe facilities. The injury caused a lot of distress, medical treatment, and unexpected costs. It also badly disrupted our travel plans, including requiring special arrangements for a long international flight home. What upset me most was the lack of accountability afterward as well as the incident itself. Guests should not be exposed to known safety risks. I urge anyone staying here to be extremely cautious, and the hotel to fix these hazards right away before another guest is seriously hurt.
