Lovely riverside atmosphere, and fishing is allowed. Room A6 even has a jacuzzi, which I loved.

It felt wonderfully quiet staying on that little island, and the rooms were clean. Kasem Island Resort is still only about an 8-minute drive from downtown, so getting into town was easy.

The room was spacious and nice, though water leaked around the toilet. Staff were lovely and the service was great. The setting is quiet, with fresh air, and it's not far from town. You can even fish from your room, which I really enjoyed. It's a small island, so getting there means a roughly 3-minute boat ride from the mainland, about 300 meters. This is more of a homestay than a 5-star room-service place. They cover the basics, including room cleaning and breakfast, and can take you between the island and mainland. You can order halal food through Grab, and the receptionist will bring it to your room.

The facilities feel quite dated, and that takes away a little from the atmosphere. Breakfast was okay, and the staff speak excellent English. Still, it's a lovely place for a night away.

It could use some updating, but the setting on the islet is fantastic. The river surrounds it, and you get mountain views, so it's a lovely spot to unwind.
