Merlin Hut & Farm

We only meant to stay one night, but liked it so much we stayed three. Merlins hut feels like a thoughtful little retreat, made with care for people and wildlife, and I rarely write such a long review. This place deserves more attention. We picked one of the bungalow huts, so this is about that option. The huts sit across the river from town, away from the noise. It's a quiet spot for private downtime in nature. Walking into town takes about 20 minutes, and we enjoyed doing that in the evenings. During the day it gets very hot, so a car or motorbike would be handy. Nanna is a riverside restaurant right next door. The hut area has bamboo and bushes between the spaces, and the lounging areas are arranged to give people privacy. The grounds are kept up each day, with hedges trimmed, leaves raked, and lawn watered. The bungalow was cozy and surprisingly well sealed against wildlife. It stayed cool with quiet AC, and everything was clean, from the fresh sheets to the toilet and shower. There's a TV with YouTube Premium, plus Netflix if you have your own account. Manager Mei was fantastic. We didn't get to meet the owner, but Mei showed us around and drove us into town before we'd rented a car. Sorry if I got your name wrong! She knows basic English, and we used Google Translate to communicate without trouble. You can message her through Line app if you need help. Breakfast was brought to our doorstep in the morning, maybe around 8 am. It was sealed, so we could sleep in and eat whenever we woke up. The food was good and enough to get the day started. We're nature lovers, and the wildlife was a highlight. It's calm in the daytime, then at sunset the animals come alive with all kinds of sounds. It felt like being in a jungle so close to town. Snails living under the huts came out to feed on the grass, so we watched where we stepped. Two local dogs and a cat came by to greet us one day. They were clean and friendly, and just wanted to play and relax beside the hut. A gecko occasionally visited the bathroom, and we were lucky to spot a tiny planthopper nymph too. Even with all that wildlife around, we felt safe. The grounds were well lit and maintained. 10/10, we'd come back if we're in Kanchanaburi again. Best wishes to the people working here! 🙇

It's a relaxing place to unwind, with lawns, big trees, and a spot by the water. The grounds have a lovely atmosphere and lots of space. The rooms are a little small, but that's no big deal. Pets are welcome too.

There are different kinds of accommodation to choose from, in quiet, shady, spacious surroundings. Tourist attractions aren't far away. Rooms are a bit small, but fair for the price, and breakfast is included, rice porridge.

Dogs have a clean, spacious lawn in front of the rooms to run around on. The big rain trees beside the river give the place a breezy, shady feel. The atmosphere is great. Highly recommended!
