Interhouse Phuket

The property was okay for a short holiday or work trip, though it wasn’t modern. What bothered me most was my experience with the owner. I asked politely on the first day if housekeeping could come only when I was in the room or when I requested it, rather than automatically every day. She told me, “If you are unhappy, cancel the booking.” She also insisted we had taken a towel and said staff brought fresh ones daily, but that wasn’t true. They only brought new towels when we asked. I also didn’t get my 1000 Baht deposit back. I only noticed when leaving, and felt scammed because she could have reminded me instead of keeping it. In my opinion, a guesthouse owner should treat guests with more friendliness and respect, since they pay to stay and keep the business running.

We couldn’t wait to leave. The hotel was clean and has potential, but the lady manager made the stay miserable with constant pressure, questions, and extra charges. She watched us whenever we went out or came back, and had an angry expression. We were pushed to check out as early as possible so the room could be cleaned, even though we had paid until 11:30am. There were no do not disturb signs, and we were expected to leave the room for an hour or so in the morning while staff cleaned, with no access during that time. It felt like there were rules everywhere and hidden costs all over. We booked with our 9 year old daughter included, but the manager showed me a screenshot with her name cropped out. When I showed the online booking with her name, she backed down a little but still demanded 500baht. I paid, and she said that was all. Later, after we broke one coffee mug, we were told we’d be charged for four because they only come in packs of four. At checkout on day two she then said we owed another 500 baht, claiming it was 500 baht per day for our daughter. I said she had promised only 500 in total, so she gave up and said “don’t worry.” I paid for four coffee cups for the one we broke. The manager was rude, shouted, made phone calls, and took photos of us. My daughter was upset and distressed. When we first arrived, the manager offered us an upgrade to a bigger room, but walked into it while the current guests were still lying on the bed and showed it to us. There was also major long-term construction next door. It caused a six-hour power cut on our first day, and the power often went off between 1pm and 7pm because of the work. It’s a shame, because the hotel itself is lovely and has potential, but the manager’s overbearing presence and extra charges ruined it.

We found a lovely retreat at this charming hotel on Phuket. The courtyard and pool were great for relaxing, and the second-floor dining area was a nice spot for morning coffee and fresh fruit. Rooms were clean and well looked after, and housekeeping did a great job. The owner was kind, welcoming, and happy to help. The area has beautiful nature and some fantastic cafés nearby. It’s especially convenient if you have a scooter or car. Highly recommend!

It’s peaceful and quiet here, and the nighttime jungle sounds, birds and maybe cicadas, were calming. The beaches are all close by. There are at least two cafés on the hill just above, with views better than Karon Viewpoint. Getting around without a rented bike may be inconvenient, but I thought it was worth it.
