Kata Forte Resort

The location is very good, but the tall, thin, fair manager there refused to let us check in unless we paid extra in Thai currency. We had booked for three and already paid in India, but he still wouldn’t let us check in, so we had to pay more. It’s sad to see a few people in such a beautiful country taking extra money from innocent travelers who are new to the country. We also faced racial treatment at an Ao Nang hotel and taxi mafia harassment in Ao Nang and Phuket. Travelers from India, beware. The Thai government should do something about these unscrupulous people before it’s too late. This is why people are preferring Vietnam, Lungka, and Cambodia. Everyone works hard to earn a living, so have some ethics, treat guests with dignity, and be honest.

Kara forte resorts sits off the street, so it’s peaceful, but the main street is just a two-minute walk away. We cut our trip short because Kara itself was much too busy and loud for us, but we couldn’t find fault with the hotel.

The room felt cramped and was smaller than at other hotels in the area at a similar price. There wasn’t much room to live comfortably: no bedside table, just a tiny window facing a wall, and nowhere to relax. I stayed one night, then booked a different, much more spacious hotel for the next day at a similar price.

The garden is lovely and the pool was spotless, and the hotel is close to everything while still being surprisingly quiet. We spent three nights in a deluxe room, then five in a villa. The villas felt cleaner, more private and comfortable, and were quieter than the deluxe rooms across the yard. In the deluxe room, you could hear practically everything the neighbors did. Breakfast was okay, though it could use more choices.
