The Lantern Resorts Patong

I arrived today and realized at check-in that I'd booked a room for a month later by mistake. The host brought the manager over right away to sort it out. She said prices had gone up and asked for more than 6,000 baht on top of my booking to move the start date to today for four nights. That didn't seem right, so I checked the hotel's website there and then. The same room was listed for 2,500 less than I'd paid. I offered to cancel and book again, but the manager said I couldn't because my 7,500 deposit was nonrefundable. The booking terms clearly said there was no cancellation penalty if I canceled at least five days ahead, and my mistaken booking was still a month away. I declined to stay and will dispute the payment with my credit card provider. The reservation was made directly on the hotel's website, not through a third party. I didn't feel comfortable staying after that, so I booked another hotel down the road and left. It was an easy problem to sort out, and I don't know why I was treated this way. The manager seemed more interested in keeping my deposit than completing the booking. Really poor service.

Bangla Road is nearby, and the beach, night markets and shopping malls are only a few minutes away. If you're watching your budget, Banzaan night market has cheap food, and during the day there's plenty of fresh fruit. The hotel was clean, with good hot showers, air conditioning and two pools, one of them on the roof.

Everything was perfect during my amazing stay. Manager Som was warm and polite, and deserves a pay rise. Definitely try this hotel!

This was our second stay, and everything went very well. The front office team was lovely, especially khun som, who helped us upgrade the room. Many thanks!
