Grandfather Khaolak Resort

A beautiful place to stay, with exceptionally kind staff. It's away from the busy street, so check the location before booking if that might disappoint you. For us, it was perfect.

The location is near the edge of town and the jungle, which is unusual, and you can often hear exotic animals. The food and fruit were delicious, and the swimming pool was large and clean. It was the best vacation of my entire life. The staff were really nice, the rooms very clean and beautiful, the beds comfortable and the bathroom huge.

Breakfast covered both Western options like fruit, pancakes, cereal and fried eggs, and Thai-style food. We were impressed by the free bicycle service and the motorbike rental for a small fee. The resort is at the end of a road, so a bike is handy for getting to the main road, a 7 minute walk away. Walking it after dark isn't so pleasant, though you can take a taxi. The resort is super cosy and not too big, with almost every room or house right in front of the pool. Both the pool and our room were beautiful and clean. At check-in we got a delicious welcome drink and were shown to our room by staff who were very kind.

We stayed at Grandfather Khaolak in December and had a great time. The rooms are modern, tidy and comfortable. It's a little off to the side from the road and beach, but only 5 mins away by taxi. Loved it!
