Vana Wellness Resort

We booked two rooms, one for our parents and one for us as a couple. They were near the pool and had a very nice view. The rooms were clean and the staff very nice. Too bad breakfast wasn’t included in the price. Thanks for the welcome from Khun Catherine, the cute cat. I LOVE IT!

The pool was the best part for us, especially if you get a room by it. It’s open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., has steps into the water, and is about 1.30 m deep overall, so it’s child friendly. Breakfast runs from 6.30 to 9.30 and is fairly standard Thai fare, with a mix of hot food, toast, coffee, tea and juice. Rooms vary from standard doubles to almost suite sized; ours was clean, with an okay bed and bathroom, and daily cleaning is provided. It’s a little outside Nong Khai in a rural spot, meant for a relaxing, healthy stay. If you’re after evening parties, this isn’t the place. Services are limited apart from breakfast, with some room service during the day. For anything in the evening, you’ll pretty much need to go into town. A three wheel ‘sam lah’ taxi costs about 100 baht, so getting there isn’t expensive. All in all, a very nice experience.

The staff helped us sort out all the details for the SHA+ Thailand Pass Test and Go program. They picked us up on the Lao side of the Friendship Bridge, drove us to the resort, and helped with other travel arrangements. The resort is a little way from the main part of town, but it has a peaceful atmosphere. The rooms are spacious, the staff accommodating, and the WiFi coverage and speed decent. Highly recommended if you’re using the Test and Go Thailand Pass program.

I’ve stayed here a few times. The breakfast is good and the service staff are woody, but it really sux that there are no chairs or sunbeds by the pool.
