De VeraNiO Resort

The beach bungalows have a huge window looking out at the beach and ocean, and they’re fantastic. I stayed for six nights at this lovely, quiet hotel, so I had plenty of time to get to know the staff and explore the property. The gym is small but very good, with solid, brand-new equipment. The staff were excellent and friendly, and went out of their way to make sure guests were comfortable. I’d stay again.

The hotel is okay, but it’s very expensive for what you get, and the restaurant food is fine but also pricey, more like Bangkok prices. The beach itself is beautiful, quiet, and lovely for long walks. We had a lovely day and night there.

The rooms are very nice, with a perfect bathroom, and they left free snacks, beer, and soft drinks every day. There were hardly any guests when we visited, so it was extremely quiet and we had the whole resort to ourselves. The food was very good and came quickly. The main drawback is the beach: the seawall leaves only a very small stretch of sand, and at high tide there may be none at all. Don’t come expecting to lie on the beach. If you’re happy by the pool or relaxing on the bungalow patio, it’s a great resort.

The advertised Sea View room had a bathtub on the balcony, but its water was cold only, which was a big disappointment for me. And instead of facing the sea, the view looked toward the office, with tall trees blocking most of the water anyway. The resort is modern and comfortable, with spacious rooms, nearly new furniture, and a very comfortable bed and bedding. The bathroom was very clean, and the large shower had a rainhead, strong steady pressure, and great hot water. Still, the price is high for what you get.
