Bed Loft Cafe

Nok made us feel at home right away and was incredibly helpful. When we couldn’t find a taxi, she drove us herself. It’s a quiet, cozy spot, with the lake just across the street and good routes for walking or biking nearby. The hotel has three floors, and the rooms feel rustic, warm, beautiful, and comfortable. The shower stood out too. It’s also a cafe known for its German beers, pizza, and German sausages. I hope to return, and rent a bike next time.

Plenty of bars and restaurants line the lakeside, and the hotel is close to the lake.

The biggest issues for us were the heat and the dogs. During a 42C/109F heat wave, the aircon in the top-floor Deluxe room couldn’t keep up. The room had been empty the previous day, yet it took over three hours to reach a usable temperature. The Lake View room has an aircon unit that’s properly sized. The wall facing the sun and the roof were almost too hot to touch, so better aircon or heat shielding there would help. The other problem was a pack of more than 11 dogs wandering the soi next door and barking at each other at all hours, including 4-5am. At least some belong to someone behind a fence, but he seemed unable to manage them, and several could squeeze underneath it. Closing the gated community’s existing metal entrance gate seems like the only way to keep the strays out, though that’s beyond Bed Loft’s control. It’s sad that uncontrolled dogs are such a serious concern at an otherwise nice new hotel and bar. Music parties at the bar were sometimes at a medium level by Thai standards. They might be heard from second-floor rooms, but we couldn’t hear them on the top floor. The rooms themselves were clean and modern, the staff were nice, and the view was pleasant above a bar serving high-end imported German beer.

We liked everything about bed loft and plan to stay again when we next visit khon kaen. The one exception was the stairs up to our top-floor loft room.
