The Mondrian Khon Kaen Apartment

It’s a budget place near Bangkok Khonkaen Hospital. The alley feels pretty deserted, and walking from the nearest convenience store around midnight felt a bit far.

There’s plenty of parking, and the location is good. The rooms are clean, too. One issue is that they won’t change rooms when something in the room is broken. It’s family-run: the woman in charge is friendly, while the older man came across as unfriendly. If you’re not too particular, it’s an okay stay. The price is 550-600 baht.

The room was fine and the air conditioning worked well, but I didn’t feel I had much privacy. It seemed to be a family-run place, and when I went out, people looked at me strangely, as though I needed permission to be there, even though I was paying. There were also limits on when I could come and go. The main drawback was the lack of staff and service. Apart from that, things were okay.

We got a spacious two-story room because a lot of places were full during several big events. It was simply furnished, with a huge bed and a rather steep staircase, and the air conditioning kept working well. The bathroom was exceptionally clean, and for the price the room was roomy and tidy. We hadn’t read many reviews beforehand, but had no problems during our stay. The elderly woman at the counter was polite and helpful. An older man looked stern at first, but when we smiled and greeted him, he was friendly and chatty, unlike what some reviews had said. Following the rules was no problem; everything felt normal and orderly.
