Longlay Resort Rayong

I paid 1150thb (£27) for one night in early December, breakfast included, and thought it was very good value. A long sandy beach is just across the road, with a 7/11, coffee Amazon, and restaurants close by. This brand new resort has a bright, clean feel, and I liked it as soon as I arrived. It’s split into two areas: 13 rooms by reception and a long pool, then another 56 rooms farther back on two floors around a larger children's pool with water slides. The room was nicely equipped and everything worked. The decor is minimal, but they provide pretty much everything, and the bathroom is well planned.

We won’t be back. There was no hot or cold water, no chairs or tables, and not even a drawer or shelf. No toothbrush, no breakfast, and no phone. The hotel sits directly in the sun, so the “water park” isn’t usable until 4pm, when the sun goes down. We went to the “wrong” building and were made to walk with all our stuff to the table, or lobby, on the other side. The kids were nice, but there was no hospitality awareness. The kitchen never opened during the three days we were there. We ended up eating on the floor with teaspoons. Shame on this hotel.

The resort is right across from the beach and has a shallow pool with water slides, which makes it ideal for families. It’s brand new. Breakfast was basic but okay. Oddly, they didn’t make up our room for the second night.

Bright and clean, and a good base for a quiet beach holiday. January was very quiet, just as we expected and wanted.
