15 Palms Beach Resort

We went for the very un-Thai Sunday roast today, and it was amazing. We both ordered the three-meat plate, lamb, pork and beef, for 420 Bht, about £9.30. The roast potatoes and gravy were better than my grandmother's, and the Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese, carrots, broccoli and other vegetables were all cooked just right. The meat was stunning too. At 55, I've eaten my body weight in Sunday roasts ten times over, and this was something else. In a Cotswold pub it might start at 1500bht. The bar and restaurant have a lovely atmosphere and location, and the staff were wonderful. It was pouring, but they let us bring our 13-week-old Frenchie puppy inside and fussed over her, which was really nice. Best roast I've had in years, served on an island in SE Asia. Thailand keeps hitting different for food, from the best burgers I've ever had, even after five years living in new York, to pizza so fresh the Italians would cry into their tomato sauce. Moving here isn't helping my diabetes, but I'm heading out in a food coma 😂👌

The evening atmosphere at 15 Palms Beach Resort on Koh Chang was just right, with good music, relaxed beach vibes and a lively but comfortable feel. We had dinner right on the beach and really enjoyed it. The food was fantastic, especially the Pad Kra Pao. It had a great balance of spice and flavor, tasted fresh, and was one of the best we've ever had. Every other dish we tried was fresh and beautifully prepared too. Service was fine and the staff were generally professional, though sometimes they seemed a little less engaged and could have been more attentive. We'd definitely come back for the food, music and beach setting.

The team made our stay feel special. Everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful, always smiling, while still giving us room to relax. The beach was the real highlight, especially in low season when it was peaceful and wonderfully quiet. The food was outstanding, though I found the Pad Thai a little too sticky and wet. Even with that small letdown, I'd happily give the hotel five out of five.

We loved staying at 15 Palms. The beachfront setting is great, and you can get bar service while sitting on the deckchairs. We mostly ate at the hotel because the food was so good. The staff were fantastic, friendly and very attentive. It's handy for the ferry, though getting to other parts of the island means taking local taxis, which felt quite expensive compared with everything else. We paid 150-200 baht per person for each ride.
