Banpu Koh Chang

The location was fantastic, with a pharmacy across the street, 7-11s in both directions, and plenty of restaurants. Walking along the beachfront is a nice way to see the oceanfront seating before choosing somewhere to eat. We found this resort great value for money. Stay in the oceanfront room, and have the breakfast. Breakfast was really nice: three Thai dishes each day with rice and congee or jok, eggs and pancakes cooked near the beach, watermelon and cantaloupe, plus cereal and bread to toast. There was drip coffee, tea, milk, water, and two juices. The pool is a good size, with around 20 loungers, 10-12 beanbag chairs, and movable plastic chairs facing the ocean or pool. It never felt too crowded, though some guests saved chairs with towels before breakfast and didn't use them for a couple of hours. One end is about four feet deep, the other five. Things fall from the trees and can make it look dirty, but staff clear the debris several times a day. The beach is mostly sandy to the left of the tree. In front of it and to the right are rocks, some with mollusks, so watch your footing. At high tide, around 170 cm, you can walk out about 25 meters with the water just at your shoulders. The slope is very gradual and mostly fine sand. We started with two nights in the oceanfront room and added another. Then we spent one night in a second-floor room in a separate building, with a terrace or balcony, followed by three nights in a bungalow. The ocean-facing concrete building was the quietest: hardly any road noise, and we woke to waves lapping at the front walk. Our bungalow, number 106, was the noisiest, right beside the pool and restaurant. We heard sweeping, conversations, meals, and road noise. Bungalows 100-102 are off to the side by the ocean and would probably be quieter. The second-floor room was in between, with quite a bit of road noise and walls that didn't block sound very well.

For what they charge, I'd give it a 5++: the rooms are decent, the location's great, and breakfast is good. We had a balcony room in a side building. If you're willing to pay a bit more, the thatched huts or bungalows right on the beach look really cool. Just know what to expect at that price. The staff could be a little friendlier and more attentive, though they were okay. Most of the other guests were Thai families and older German couples.

It's a beautiful, peaceful resort, with clean beach and really soft sand. The rooms are spacious and clean, right by the beach. The staff were amazing, so friendly and professional!

The room was a bit dated and not well maintained, but it worked for us. The bed was comfortable, and we had a private balcony facing the sea. Most of the staff were friendly and ready to help, and breakfast was great. My family had a great week here. The kids loved spending the day on the beach and by the pool. Good location, and we'll definitely come back.
