Marina Sands Resort

It was a relaxing stay, and I’d definitely come back. The resort is large, so you need to rent a vehicle or call for the free ride between places inside the property. Breakfast was good, our room was enormous, and the river view was lovely to wake up to.

The quiet, pleasant atmosphere was a real plus. The restaurant is a long way from the room, but they’ll drive you if you don’t have a car. Reception greeted me with smiles, the room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the toilet looked newer. Breakfast on the first day was perfect, and the employees were pleasant and smiling. The price was good, especially since I think island hotel prices have gotten too expensive. It’s hard to see how they could do much better. Lots of hotels could learn from this one, making people happy isn’t that difficult 🙏 I was sad not to get a room with a balcony, but I can live without one.

We’ve stayed here four times over the past few years, and the first three visits were great. This time, the pool was unusable for us. Whatever was in the water gave our kids and the kids of friends staying there rashes all over, and it stung so badly that you couldn’t even open your eyes in it. The pool had been the best part of our earlier stays. Then, at checkout, they charged us 100 THB for a spoon we never took from the room. They wouldn’t reconsider, even after we said we hadn’t taken it and had spent roughly 40k THB total on two rooms over a week. It was a terrible end to the stay, and we probably won’t come back for a fifth visit.

My Deluxe Double Room cost 5890 THB for 5 nights with breakfast. It was 42 square meters, with a big balcony and roomy bathroom. The property has two units with a large swimming pool between them, and rooms run from the first through fourth floors. Parking is outside the units. Breakfast is served at the restaurant down by the sea, a fair walk away, though free rides are available both ways. The restaurant also does lunch and dinner and stays open into the evening. There’s a beach bar as well, and a Marina beside one of the units, with other restaurants in and around the area.
