Nonthawat House

We stayed for five months and really enjoyed it. The place was cozy and very clean, with a great view. Pat and Chris were wonderful hosts, always helpful.

Clean, cozy little houses with kitchens. They work well for a monthly stay.

We stayed in four of the ten small houses. Each has a kitchen in the first room, then a bedroom and toilet. They’re raised on stilts and made of plasterboard, so soundproofing is excellent. There’s a café nearby where music sometimes plays until 3 a.m. The kitchen is sparsely equipped, which seems common in Thailand. The grounds are spacious, with a lawn where a pack of dogs runs around and leaves tracks in the morning. The hostess was pleasant and polite. Two shops, a café, and a fruit stand are close by. The sea is a ten-minute walk, though the beach is at the local river mouth, which also acts as a sewer outlet. Another drain is 50 meters away. People bring baby elephants along there, and they almost always clean up afterward. We liked staying here, especially since rental houses are hard to find on the island. We visited in season, but it wasn’t crowded. Prices for everything had gone up, while fruit and café portions seemed smaller, which also happens in holiday destinations.
