Koh Kood Paradise Beach

The breakfast had everything we needed, and we’d highly recommend staying here. Our beds were great, the rooms were very nice, and the staff were always friendly and ready to help. The area and beach are amazing, with a really easygoing feel. We had a wonderful stay!

The evening live band was beautiful and created a very pleasant atmosphere, and the housekeeping staff were polite, discreet, and did their jobs properly. Those were the only real positives for us. The rest of the stay was disappointing, mainly because of the staff. Employees came across as cold and unwelcoming, and the restaurant manager was rude and inflexible, enforcing rules that made no sense for a vacation resort. We couldn’t even move five meters away from the restaurant to drink coffee in the designated smoking area. That showed a real lack of respect for guests. The food was completely tasteless and outrageously expensive for what it was. The pool had an unpleasant orange color and wasn’t inviting. There’s potential here, but poor management and lack of respect for guests waste it. Not recommended.

The room was quite okay for the price and the staff were nice. Still, for a 4-star hotel, they’re missing some basic amenities, like a toothbrush. Free kayaking is offered, but it closes too early at 5, so don’t count on watching the sunset from a kayak.

The main concern during our stay was Toby, the resort’s cockatoo. The poor parrot was kept in a rusty cage near the entrance, looked lonely, and didn’t seem healthy. We left management a letter asking them to care for Toby better, including a new cage in a more central spot, a companion cockatoo, and a proper diet. Otherwise, it’s a decent resort with the necessary amenities on Koh Kood. I’d strongly suggest choosing a villa. They’re much nicer and closer to the restaurant, gym, pool, and beach. The villas are well kept, with spacious modern bathrooms, a flat-screen TV, and air conditioning. Their prices differ only by distance from the beach; the units are otherwise identical. Breakfast and restaurant meals were decent and reasonably priced.
