Asama Bungalow

A lovely, relaxing place, with shops and restaurants within walking distance. The hut is ideal for a couple or for one person, and it's a three-minute walk from the long beach. We also liked going to our favorite restaurant near by the Water or big bridge. Every now and then a wild monkey wandered around, though our guard dog scared it away. It was pretty neat to see one.

I booked the wrong dates and couldn't stay, but the staff were understanding and helpful, and let me cancel at the last minute. Thanks for your help 🙏.

I planned to stay for a week, then added three more days because it's such a peaceful, relaxing place. There are rooms with private bathrooms and others with shared ones. The shared bathroom was extremely clean and well looked after, and there are a few adorable cats wandering around.

For backpackers, this is probably the best choice around. The price of a dorm bed gets you a bungalow to yourself. I could check in at 10 a.m., which I appreciated after a long journey. The bungalow had an insect net and a hammock for relaxing, and the mattress was fine, not too hard. I slept well, which is unusual for me even with earplugs, and I didn't see any insects beyond tiny bugs, nothing like spiders or cockroaches inside. The bathroom was always very clean. It's near the road, but traffic stopped from midnight until about 7 a.m.; roosters started at 5, though I still slept fine with earplugs. Laundry was 40b/kg. Bike rental was a ten-minute walk south, with bikes in all sizes. There's a great restaurant just north of the hostel where pad thai was 70b. During my dates, the price was 200-250b, and you may get a better deal booking in person or by phone. I'd recommend it and would return on a budget. For beaches, Khlong Nin is the best of those further south, but the four beaches you can walk to from the bungalow are also nice for sunset.
