JP's Place isn’t the most modern, but the room was comfortable, the AC worked well, and the water pressure and hot water were great for Asia. Born really made the stay. Before we’d even arrived, he checked on us because our van transfer was running late. He also helped us get a scooter, booked a taxi to the ferry, and gave us wonderful lunch and dinner suggestions, plus his favorite beach. We ended up adding another night. Thanks, Born, for being so hospitable.

The road facing rooms get noisy once the heavy traffic starts at 7am, so bring earplugs. On the plus side, the host is very friendly, and the rooms are clean, spacious, and have balconies. The price feels a little high for what you get, though I guess that reflects the greater demand in Koh Lanta over the last few years.

Born on the hotel staff deserves a special mention. He was extremely friendly, helped us with everything we needed, and made us feel well looked after throughout our four nights. We were satisfied with the whole stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. It was a very pleasant experience, and we’d gladly stay again and recommend the hotel.

The location worked especially well for us with a rented moped: both the old town and the western coast were only a couple of minutes' ride away. The rooms are nice, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Looking for somewhere away from the main tourist areas? The old town and east side of Koh Lanta make a good base. The staff were polite and helpful, and arranged a scooter rental for me.
