La Laanta Hideaway Resort

The beach is amazing, the pool area is very nice, and it’s peaceful and quiet. The staff were friendly too. But the shower was awful, with very weak pressure, and you have to hold the showerhead to use it. The resort is far from restaurants, nightlife, and tourist areas. Getting in is confusing and poorly handled. There’s no proper sign, so you’ll probably get lost, and the road really needs to be redone. Driving in feels like you’re entering someone’s private house instead of a resort. A clear entrance, signs, and some walls or separation would make it feel much more like a hotel. The room was okay, but management needs to improve the entrance, road, and room facilities to match resort standards.

The shower pressure could be better, and watch out for the wild monkeys. One ran at me when it saw me holding a banana 😩 Otherwise, it was lovely: just a few steps from the room to the pool and beach, with a beautiful pool facing the water and a quiet, uncrowded beach. There were plenty of sunbeds, a hammock, and even a swing for the kid in me. Breakfast had a good spread, and the local dishes were flavorful. The room was comfortable and well equipped. Staff were helpful and gave us a free ride to town. The owner was very friendly and offered us drinks at the bar.

The room’s shower was like a camping shower. You had to hold it to use it, because left up, it just sprayed straight ahead. The furnishings felt dated too, especially the curtains, which were thin and cheap. Driving in, the road was in very poor condition, and construction all around made the hotel look messy. It wasn’t a great first impression. The location itself is beautiful, with a stunning beach and a nice pool. Just be aware it’s far from everything apart from the national park. The stay wasn’t terrible, and we made good use of being near the beach, but for the price I expected a higher standard overall.

The pad thai was fantastic, and I had a fantastic stay here. The rooms are clean, the views gorgeous, and the staff are fun and friendly. Highly recommend coming here.
