It was clean and peaceful, with comfortable beds and cute cats. A few things let the apartment down: the stove seemed unsafe, the toilet clogged easily even though we didn't put paper in it, and the water pressure was very weak.

The price was fair at 700 baht for one night, and this was the most comfortable bed we had. You do need a scooter, but the setting shows a quieter side of koh lanta away from the tourist crowds, beside or within a rubber plantation. The place is calm and beautiful, with friendly operators and modern, cozy rooms that are almost fully glazed and each have a veranda.

Run by a very welcoming local family, this new apartment hotel is set back from the noisy road. You'll need a bike to get around, and they rent good ones there. The manager speaks good English. Everything was spotless and working properly, and the bed was very comfortable.

We've stayed here twice and will probably come back again. For the price, it's the best value we've found. Lanta K Home has three new, modern two-storey houses about a kilometer from the main road, surrounded by forest. Nam, who runs the place, is friendly and welcoming and speaks understandable English. Scooter rental is 250 baht for a new one or 200 for an old one, the usual island price. Cats, both pets and strays, visit the houses; they already get fed locally but are happy to take food and affection. You can hear birds in the morning and cicadas at night, and see squirrels in the trees.
