Peace Lanta Mansion

I stayed for three nights in early March and had a great time. The hotel is very clean and close to the beach and lots of restaurants. The owners and staff were friendly and always available to help with problems, offer recommendations or arrange excursions. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Koh Lanta.

The guest house feels a bit outdated, but the things that matter were all good: it’s quiet and well located, the rooms are large, the beds are comfortable and the AC worked fine. The owner and hosts are extremely helpful and will sort out whatever you need. They can book tours at the last minute for less than anywhere else on the island. Highly recommended, and I’d love to return!

The owner and his family were kind and did their best to help us, which I appreciated, but it couldn’t make up for the stay. The price was far too high for what we got, perhaps because of agoda.com, and I can’t understand the positive reviews. The place badly affected my impression of Ko Lanta. When we arrived, I was shocked by how dirty it was and started wiping down the surfaces myself. There was a horrible smell from the bathroom, ants crawling around, and the stench was unbearable. The bed was rock hard. We asked to change rooms the next day. The new one was more or less the same, though at least there were no ants. We couldn’t even turn on the fan because it was connected to the bathroom light, and the smell made it impossible to stay in there. We stayed four nights only because of the money, and I counted down until we could leave that nightmare.

We booked for two weeks and have stayed on, with another month planned. It’s clean, with no unpleasant smells, and the price for the quality is excellent. The owners are very kind, helpful and speak English. Our room has two extra-wide, comfortable beds with good linen, plus a small but handy kitchen corner and enough room for our things. Drinking water is provided, the Wi-Fi is excellent for working, and cleaning is available on request. There’s also a hair dryer at reception. It’s a good family guesthouse in an excellent location.
