Rann Chalet Beach Side

I really enjoyed the stay, especially since I like being out in nature, but I’d keep it to 2-3 nights. The bungalow is tiny, so two people with lots of luggage will struggle for space. There’s only a fan and no aircon, so it can get hot. The shower water was cool rather than freezing, which was fine for me in the heat. The beach is lovely and had very few people, and the restaurant food was good, though breakfast is no longer included in the price. We did get some mosquitoes, bugs and geckos inside, but there’s a net over the bed, so we felt protected. If you’re not into this kind of outdoorsy stay, a regular hotel may suit you better.

The houses are cute, the setting is great, and the restaurant sounds like a plus in main season. We were there before the season, though, and things felt empty, dirty and neglected. The host did help us with the scooter. With a little more care this could be a nice place, but in rainy season you’ll probably want proper walls.

The staff were lovely, especially the owner, Ma. The bamboo bungalows felt cozy and we didn’t see any insects. The shower water was cool but not painfully cold. Breakfast was included, and expect plenty of eggs: scrambled, fried and omelette. The beach is very close, with shade under the trees until 15 pm.

For such a low price, I felt the hotel gave more than it took. Our Deluxe Sea View room was clean and comfortable, and the manager, MA, was outgoing and really funny. It’s not far from Salandan pier, with lots of 7-11's, minimarts, bars and restaurants nearby. Great value.
