The New Andaman Bay Bungalow

This was my only fishing day in Thailand, and it felt wasted. I’ve fished around the country for years, so I know what I’d expect from a charter. Friends of mine went out in Koh Lanta the day before with another operator, paid much less, and had a clearly better trip in effort, gear, and results. At New Andaman Bay Bungalow, I paid 3,500 THB for a trip that wasn’t advertised as bottom fishing, but that’s what it turned out to be. We went about 10 minutes by boat, very close to shore, and only caught small red fish. There was little effort to find more interesting or memorable catches, no proactive approach, and no attempt to change spots or improve the conditions. The equipment and setup were worn and very basic for the price. The fisherman was kind, but communication was almost impossible because of the lack of English. The boat was old and disorganized. The included drinks and fruit were poor quality and not handled hygienically. The only fruit was pineapple cut with the same knife used for the bait. I expected a proper fishing experience, and this didn’t match the price or reasonable expectations. I can’t recommend it to anyone looking for a meaningful fishing trip.

You wake up, open the bungalow door, and the sea is right there. The location is a dream, and the price feels like a steal for the setting, service, and quality. I’ve traveled extensively around the world, and this is the most beautiful bungalow resort I’ve ever stayed in. The owners, the couple at reception, showed unmatched hospitality from the moment I arrived. It’s my favorite spot so far, without a doubt.

I booked three nights and ended up extending several times. The owners are so friendly, and you can book tours, sort out travel, or rent a scooter there. The bungalows are great and clean. Even the cheaper fan rooms have a private bathroom and fridge. Thank you for making me feel at home. This is definitely where I’d stay in Koh Lanta.

The bay is lovely and quiet, and our stay was great. It’s run by a local family, and the front desk staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Really outstanding customer service. I’d recommend it 100%.
