The Sea At Lanta Hotel

I'd never ridden a scooter before and hoped to rent one here. The man let me practice in the lot and was so patient. I fell twice, so I ended up not renting it, but he was very kind!

The area worked well, though I'd suggest having a moped to get around. We rented ours here, and Abu was accommodating with that and arranging a taxi to the port. Tuesday Morning is right across the road, and we went there for brunch every day, honestly. Kantiang Beach is about a 15-minute walk away. We had a lovely stay and would return. The room was very clean, the bed comfy, the AC worked well, and there was a mini fridge and a really cute balcony with chairs. And the hotel's ginger cat was probably the best cat ever 💜

The main reason I can't recommend this hotel is what happened when I asked the manager to arrange a taxi to the next village on New Year's Eve, about 3.8 km away. He said it would cost 1,000 BHT, then offered to do it privately for 800 BHT. That seemed ridiculous. I told him my trip from Krabi Airport to the hotel on Koh Lanta, 97 km including the ferry, had cost much less. He replied that prices on Koh Lanta were different. Sure, but not by that much, in my view. I can't stand this sort of thing, trying to scam guests whenever possible. Instead, I asked the next taxi tuk-tuk on the street, and it charged 150 BHT. The idea of a hotel manager trying to scam me says a lot. Rather than spending all day on a smartphone, he should look after the rooms. Around Krabi and Koh Lanta, I felt Thai people were always trying to scam tourists, and this trip left me with a very negative impression. Update 2025: Agoda removed this review, saying it was misleading and deceptive for users. Just don't book a room at a hotel where the manager tries to scam you. The location itself is quiet and nice if you have a scooter or are happy to walk at least 800 metres to a supermarket and several restaurants. The rooms are dated. The windows and mirrors hadn't been cleaned, so the sea view was dirty, and the bathroom was disgusting with nowhere to put toiletries. For this price, I would expect a better standard in Europe, though it was around New Year's Eve. The service was the worst part. There was no room cleaning, and we had half a roll of toilet paper for more than four days. When we asked reception for more, the staff were very unfriendly.

The sunset from the balcony was one of the best parts of going outside, just perfect to have right from your room. It was a pleasant stay and good value. The reception staff were so friendly and accommodating when we arrived. There are restaurants nearby, including one right across from the hotel that closes at night. The 7 Eleven is a 3-5 minute motorbike ride away.
