Vacation Village Phra Nang Lanta

We booked the resort for six nights. The room was spacious, with a sitting area, a tub and shower in the en suite, and a balcony with a nice view over the pool and beach. There was also a large area with a hammock. The pool and sunbeds overlooking the beach were lovely. But a terrible bathroom smell spread through the room and ruined our stay. We asked to move, but the resort was full. Breakfast was basic, limited, and never varied. One morning we ordered poached eggs, waited more than ten minutes, then asked how long they’d take, only to be told no one had ordered them. We had to leave for a tour and couldn’t wait for them to be made. The cleaners often barely touched the room. We wouldn’t stay here again.

The pool was excellent, the beach is right there and good for swimming, and the accommodation is stunning for the price. I also slept on the softest bed I’ve ever had. There’s a great bar next door with live music and a fire show. Breakfast was very limited and poorly done. The walkable restaurants around the area all felt much the same, with nothing very interesting.

I asked if they were serving food at 6 PM around sunset and whether there were tables by the beach. They said yes, but I had to press them before anyone showed me a table. No menu was offered when they asked for my drink order, so I got a watermelon juice. It took 15 minutes to arrive, brought by a cleaner. When I asked for a menu, they looked at me as if I were being strange. Then they asked if I wanted food, and by then I felt very uncomfortable and awkward. They eventually brought a menu but wouldn’t let me hold it. Someone stood hovering over me, holding half of it while the other half rested on the table, as if I couldn’t be trusted with it. Three different people tried to steer me to a beach seat instead of the one I’d chosen, even though I was the only customer. I just wanted to leave. Asking the price of the juice took several people too: it was 80 baht. I paid 100 baht and left after one sip. It was the strangest, most uncomfortable restaurant experience I’ve had anywhere, especially in Thailand, where people are usually so warm and hospitable. I’ve spent months on the island, eating out daily at local places, and never had anything close to this. The service felt unwelcoming, confused, and awkward. The juice was okay, but I couldn’t finish it or comfortably look at the menu. With so many great places just minutes away, I wouldn’t spend my time or energy here again.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the location is great. Staff seem a little tired and slow, while the breakfast and cleanliness both need work. A bit more effort could make this place a real gem.
