Phi Phi Phu Chalet Resort

The beds were comfy, the views spectacular, and the staff the most gracious hotel staff I’ve ever met. We had an amazing stay at the Phi Phi Phu Chalet with our 9 year old and (almost) 2 year old. Getting there is a bit of a hike, but it’s worth it and honestly part of the fun. We were surprised by how many restaurants and amenities were close by in the little “town”, a 15 minute walk away. It’s quiet without feeling secluded. We want to go back!!! From the 9 year old: We loved it so much we want to go all the time! It’s an amazing, beautiful, awesome hotel. We’d go back anytime.

We stayed five nights in bungalow 925, which is perfect for a couple. It’s the farthest from the lobby, so it felt like we were alone in the jungle, with a perfect sea view from the room. The service was super, the food great, and cocktails really good and cheap. Breakfast was simple, served at the table, but sufficient. The hotel restaurant was also very good and competitively priced. A small paved road with no traffic leads to the local village, just a very short walk away, with plenty of restaurants and massage places. We spent three days scuba diving with Leisure Dive center, which I can recommend, then two days lounging by the pool and snorkeling at the lovely reef right in front of the hotel. Free kayaks and snorkel gear are available, and there’s a small anchor on the reef where you can tie up your kayak while you snorkel. It was perfect. We saw a puffer fish, a moray eel, and lots of smaller colorful fish. Most guests seemed to stay just one or two nights, mainly couples relaxing, reading, and sipping cocktails. Each day there was a new family with bored kids who hadn’t got the memo and took over the small pool area, yelling, running, and jumping. There’s not much for kids to do here. Maybe making the hotel adults only would turn a great place into an amazing one. You need a longtailboat transfer to and from Tonsai, which is part of the charm.

The bungalow had a great view, and all the staff were very friendly. It’s a beautiful resort, and the food there was really tasty too. The nearest small village, with shops and restaurants, is a 15-minute walk away. Highly recommended!

Getting here means arriving at the main ferry area, then taking the hotel’s long tail boat to the property. The food was good. They understand very little English, so language can be an issue here too. If you’re looking for luxury, peace, and a place to rest, this is one of the places to consider.
