I stayed one night at Phi Phi The Beach Resort, and it was the best overall experience of all the hotels I stayed at on my recent trip. The resort felt private and peaceful, with a lovely beach just in front. The beach chairs were included, with no extra charge, which made it more relaxing. Snacks in the room fridge were complimentary too, a nice surprise I didn’t get at any of my other hotels. I booked the Superior Room with Partial Sea View, up on the hill, and the view was one of the highlights. I’d recommend that room type if you like scenic surroundings. It’s relatively expensive, but the privacy, natural beauty and overall experience made it worth the price for me. There aren’t nearby shops or a money exchange in the resort area, so sort out things like ferry tickets and snacks at the main pier before you arrive.

The beach was pleasant and well kept, with good seating and a more private feel. Dining was enjoyable and the food was good quality. Staff were friendly and helpful, though not exceptional, and their English could be better. The hotel feels a little dated and isn’t especially luxurious, but it still strikes me as one of the better places to stay on the island. It’s away from the overcrowded tourist center but still an easy walk, and the setting is calm and private. There’s very little boat traffic, a real plus given how noisy boats can be around Phi Phi Island. I’d recommend it. If you like hiking, head to Viewpoint 2 & 3 early in the morning for a small trip. The beach is lovely and not too busy, and you can have drinks or cold beer brought to you there. Longtail boats are easy to arrange, with fixed prices. It’s a nice location. The bungalow is a good size, but the mattress was much too hard until the resort added a topper after I asked. This is a jungle island, so there are geckos and other wild animals around, and it gets noisy at night. Breakfast was disappointing, as was most of the food we ordered. After a while we decided the kitchen was only reliable for French fries and drinks. Sorry, but you’re better off taking a longtail to Ton Sai Village.

The whole complex is large and immaculately looked after, with a couple of restaurants, a small shop and a scuba shop. It’s up on a hill, so expect some walking up and down. You can get a longboat easily enough. The ocean-facing bungalows have amazing views and big terraces, which made them worth it for me. They’re older and a bit dated, and the bathroom and shower could be better, but I found them clean and functional. For a three-star hotel, it’s a great choice. It’s away from the main part of Koh Phi Phi, so stay here if you want to avoid touristy places, party and have a drink. A very good stay.

Being outside the center is part of what makes the place special. We felt like we were in a little piece of heaven. We ate dinner at the restaurant there, and the food was always good. Breakfast was good too, except they only had Nescafe included. For an espresso or americano, you have to pay 60 or 70 baht.
