Coral Cliff Beach Resort Samui

Our first night dinner at Coral Cliff Beach Resort Restaurant was lovely. The food was excellent, and I still think about the “Koh Samui Dream” cocktail, with its beautiful presentation and unusual, memorable flavors. The staff made us feel like VIPs while staying attentive without hovering, so it felt like a great choice for a romantic meal. At check-in, they welcomed us warmly and brought a delicious complimentary drink as soon as we sat at the reservation desk. The porter kindly helped carry our suitcase down the stairs, showed us the room, and said to let them know if we'd need help bringing it back up at checkout. Really good service. The beach is down a flight of stairs, which felt like a million steps to us old folks 😂. It’s a lovely little spot with big boulders, good for relaxing or swimming, and we enjoyed watching people snorkeling there.

Breakfast was tasty and good value, and Lamai Night Market and the rest of Lamai are close enough to visit. We liked the clean, comfortable room; the air conditioning was a bit noisy but worked well, and there was no musty smell. The staff were friendly, though communicating in English could be frustrating at times. Getting around the property can be tough if your knees aren't great. There isn't a hotel shuttle, so you'll need to arrange a ride yourself. Walking is possible, but I wouldn't recommend it and doubt it would be much fun. The hotel feels a little worn, though the price reflects that, so I can't complain. It's a really beautiful spot.

The biggest problem was the nearby beach, water, and land, which were very dirty and didn't seem to get cleaned enough by the businesses around there, including this hotel. There was a large pile of trash floating just offshore. Even if it comes in from the ocean, the hotel should clear it away daily. The little river at the resort's northwest end needs cleaning too. For the price, the place is good. It's somewhat dated but very clean, and the food is average, though not bad. Breakfast is good value and includes an egg station.

The rooms are bright and spacious, with an amazing view, and the location is beautiful. Service was good, and the staff were kind. They stick to the rules, sometimes a bit too much. We also liked the food at the inside restaurant. It's a great island holiday spot if it fits your budget.
