Samaya Bura Beach Resort (SHA Extra Plus+)

The pool was a lovely place to unwind, the bed was comfortable, and staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout. We noticed a slight smell from the air conditioning, as some earlier reviews had mentioned, but it wasn’t severe. The resort has the essentials for a short stay or for people who’ll be out exploring. It’s on a very busy road, which can make access tricky and may mean road noise for some guests, although we didn’t notice any noise from our room. My girlfriend and I stayed six nights at Samaya Wellness Resort and had a mixed experience. The room was pleasant, though some areas could use a bit of TLC. On check-in, the fridge was leaking and staff dealt with it promptly. There was also no hot water, which we had to report separately; that was fixed the next morning. After a long travel day, it wasn’t ideal, especially since one of us felt unwell and wanted a hot shower. On the third night, a couple in the next room argued loudly at around 4:30am, waking us and leaving us with little sleep before an early boat trip. It was unsettling and frustrating. Staff handled it quickly and professionally, and were accommodating when we raised it. We moved rooms, had no more disturbances and got a nicer view. The resort has potential, and some maintenance upgrades could make the guest experience better.

For the price, the room was very basic and had several functional problems. The shower pressure was extremely weak, like a spray bottle, and poor bathroom drainage left puddles on the toilet floor. The TV was essentially unusable. Laundry was especially disappointing: one of my Lululemon items was damaged, despite the extra fee, which is unacceptable for premium clothing. Breakfast cost 300 baht for a buffet, but the selection was minimal and didn’t justify the price. Customer service was inconsistent and difficult, largely because limited English made even basic communication challenging at a wellness resort aimed at international guests. I had high expectations based on the branding and price, but the experience didn’t match what was promised. I paid a significant amount for what amounted to a bare-minimum room. The pricing doesn’t line up with the stay, and comfort, service and basic infrastructure need major improvement. The location has potential, and I hope this feedback is taken constructively, but the execution falls short.

We felt our concerns were brushed aside, with no real solution offered. After losing sleep and seeing how the situation was handled, we checked out early and moved to another hotel. It made for a stressful start to our vacation and cost us valuable time over a problem that shouldn’t happen at a wellness resort. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to travelers who care about rest, quiet or professional guest care. Our room faced a main road with constant, extremely loud traffic. We couldn’t sleep the first night. We immediately told reception and politely asked for somewhere quieter. We weren’t looking for an upgrade or sea view, just a room where we could rest. The only option offered was another room in the same noisy area, and we were told a quieter room would cost extra. The experience was very disappointing.

I spent the rest of my vacation in pain and stuck in my room, unable to take part in anything, including a training camp I’d already paid for. I kept travelling back and forth to the hospital, with medical costs and taxi fares totaling over 26,000 baht. The physical pain and emotional distress ruined what should have been a family getaway. I’d had high hopes for Samaya Wellness Resort, but the stay became a nightmare. On February 29, 2026, I was leaving the elevator when its door suddenly closed on my arm and seriously injured me. It’s shocking that a place claiming to prioritize wellness had such a lack of safety measures. Management’s negligence in maintaining the elevators is inexcusable, and they failed in their duty of care to guests. I contacted them to seek compensation for my medical costs and the lost enjoyment of my holiday, but they haven’t responded. Think twice before choosing this resort. Your well-being shouldn’t be compromised like mine was. Avoid at all costs!
