Sand Sea Beach Resort

We paid 6682bht for three nights. The resort collected us at the airport for 800bht and took us to the pier for onward travel for another 800bht. We were upgraded for free from a standard garden view room to a deluxe garden villa, one row back from the beach. There was a small glimpse of ocean between the two villas in front. I’m not sure I’d have paid extra for it, but I appreciated the upgrade. The gardens were beautiful, the rooms spacious, with sturdy furniture, firm mattresses, and whitewashed decor. The bathroom looked a little dated, but had a huge shower. It’s a lovely quiet resort on the beach. The neighbours were considerate, and it’s far enough from the main road that we couldn’t hear traffic. Plenty of loungers by the pool and on the beach. Breakfast was hit and miss because there wasn’t enough food. Only three kinds of fruit were offered and they often ran out, as did the bacon. Lunch a few times and one dinner at the resort were delicious. The bar was a nice place to relax after lunch or in the evening, with happy hour at both times. The location is convenient. It’s a three-minute walk up the driveway to the busy street, with a 7 eleven to the right. I didn’t enjoy that road, it was too busy with too many mopeds. Most evenings we walked along the beach instead. This quieter end of Lamai had lots of places to eat without feeling overwhelming. Lamai Beach was lovely, with plenty of sand, little litter, and space to walk its full length. The ocean was warm and clear blue. The staff were friendly and worked hard, especially Nop and Tam. I’d definitely return to sand sea.

We came back to Sand Sea Resort for a second year, looking for the same quiet, relaxing break, and found it again. The peaceful feel is what we like most. It’s like a little sanctuary away from crowds where you can switch off and recharge. This time we tried two room types. The room with a private pool gave us privacy and a chance to unwind, while the ocean view room was magical. We fell asleep and woke up hearing the waves. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back again.

The hotel felt quite run down, and the bar was disappointing, with only very basic drinks. Breakfast was poor too. I didn’t use much of the hotel since I spent most of my time exploring Koh Samui and eating out. But the beachfront room was lovely, and the views from the terrace were incredible. I’d stay again just for that room and sitting out by the sea.

Such a relaxing beachfront stay, with lovely staff and a clean pool. Shops and the main town are close, but the place feels tucked away from the hustle and bustle. The breakfast and dinner area is great. Rooms are being upgraded and new cabins are going up. Don’t hesitate to book, it’s fabulous!
