The woman who welcomed us and kept in touch throughout our stay really made it special. She was so warm and kind, always smiling, and genuinely went out of her way to help us feel comfortable. Heimat Garden is in a very quiet, peaceful area, yet about five minutes from everything you need for a relaxing holiday on Koh Yao Yai. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a nice balcony and a working bathroom. The bed was on the firm side but still very comfortable, and we slept well. Some furniture could be newer, but everything was clean, maintained and working, which matters most. If we return to Koh Yao Yai, we’d stay here again without hesitation.

The guesthouse owner is a friendly, helpful lady who can arrange what you need. She got us a taxi from the ferry at a good price and also rents out scooters. Our room was a good size, cleaned every day, and had a mini fridge, TV and everything else we needed. The air conditioning was strong.

For 300 baht a night, this was an affordable, clean and tidy hotel. The room had a big double bed, fridge, AC, hot shower, TV and free Wi-Fi. No bed bugs either. It smelled a little musty, perhaps because it hadn’t been aired out in a while. We opened both doors and switched on the fans, which helped some. Our new favorite restaurant, Together, was only a two-minute walk away, and the beach was less than ten minutes away.

I arrived feeling tired and was made welcome straight away. They brought me a glass of delicious fresh pineapple juice without me even asking. The room was large and very clean, with a mini fridge, hot water, powerful AC and a nice balcony with a table and two chairs overlooking a little private garden. They grow a lot of their own food and make an effort to use fresh, local produce. As a vegan, I had to ask about ingredients, but simple vegetables and rice were my best options, along with the freshly made juices. I only stayed one night, but would recommend this small, homey place to anyone looking for a clean, reasonably priced room with AC.

We stayed several days in the guest house and ate at the restaurant regularly. The rooms were clean and spacious, with powerful air conditioning, and the Wi-Fi was very strong during our visit. The guest house itself is quiet, about 40 meters back from the main road, though the restaurant sits right beside the road. Reception is inside the restaurant. The restaurant costs a little more than nearby places, but the taste was unmatched in the village. I can’t remember having better spaghetti in Thailand. The sauces were delicious and close to the European style, and the barbecue dishes were exceptionally good. All the staff at both the guest house and restaurant were super friendly and accommodating. The owner also speaks fluent German. We’d definitely stay here again if we return to Koh Yao Yai. Highly recommended!
