Kaibae Hut Resort

There were some things I liked: our room was modern, though apparently not all are, the breakfast selection was sufficient, and the location worked well for Kai Bae Beach and the local restaurants and walking street. You couldn’t hear the street, and despite the “do not disturb” sign, a bag of fresh utensils was left on our door handle each day without disturbing us. If you like a child-friendly hotel, this may suit you. The downsides added up for us. We didn’t use the small pool because children occupied it all day, and the water looked almost cloudy or milky. I can only imagine when they last changed it. A tremendous number of Russians and children were staying there, and it was very loud from sunrise. The breakfast room is large, but getting a seat, pancakes, or eggs felt like a fight, even though they kept making them. Our room wasn’t very clean: there were cobwebs on the ceiling, dust on the doorframes, and the first time we entered, the soles of our feet turned black. There was no safe in the room; the ones behind reception were very dirty, and I prefer to keep valuables close. The area’s atmosphere also wasn’t for us. It’s at Kai Bae beach, but by more of a pier with boats than direct beach access, though the beach is a five-minute walk away. There weren’t nice green areas like the other nearby hotels have. I guess you can’t expect a five-star experience for around €60 a night, but depending on what you want and what bothers you, you might avoid some of this by paying around €80 elsewhere.

The rooms were clean, and the sea was very clear. It’s a nice resort with a nice beach. Breakfast was very good, and even with more people there, they kept bringing out whatever had run out, so choosing food wasn’t a problem.

For a clean, well-located budget hotel right on the beach, this is a good choice. It’s family friendly and has a nice pool, though the view from it isn’t great and you can just go to the beach instead. Breakfast is okay, and the main road is a quick walk away for restaurants and shops.

This Koh Chang hotel has complete facilities, including a swimming pool and a 7-Eleven right out front. It’s directly on a private beach, and they offer private or group trips for snorkeling and diving.
