Anda Resort Koh Lipe

Koh Lipe is a lovely island, but our group of seven, spread across three rooms, agreed that the resort itself fell short. Housekeeping was inconsistent and below what I'd expect at this price. Room 220, on the second floor, smelled strongly of sewage. We could also notice the odor around much of the resort and by the pool, which made it hard to ignore and made the stay uncomfortable. The check-in felt disorganized and unwelcoming after a long trip. Breakfast was bland, with little variety or flavor, and there weren't enough sunbeds for the number of guests. Checking out was frustrating because of communication problems. Only one of the three front office staff spoke English, so even simple matters were difficult to sort out. Some people rate the hotel as if they're reviewing the island. Based on our experience with service, cleanliness, comfort, and basic facilities, the resort doesn't deserve its high ratings yet. It has potential, but needs serious improvement.

The ferry pickup made arrival easy, and the lobby and bar are cozy, with a lovely view over the beach. Our room was decent, though its view looked onto what seemed to be a trash or utility area. The beds were very hard, and breakfast was disappointing compared with what we'd expected. The bar also adds a 10% service charge, which felt surprising for a hotel that's already fairly expensive. The location is the big draw: right on Sunrise Beach, about a five-minute walk from Walking Street. It was easy to explore and then return to a quieter, scenic spot. The main frustration was finding a sun lounger. Guests often claimed them early and left them unused for hours, and we managed to get two only once. It's a nice beachfront setting, but the beds, breakfast, extra bar charge, and loungers took away from the stay.

A great place to switch off with the sound of the waves, and the pool is amazing for kids too. The rooms are basic but sufficient for an island resort, and the staff were great. There are plenty of food options, plus Walking Street is convenient for Thai massages and more. I'd definitely stay again.

Room 405. The staff were the best I've ever had. They were waiting for us at the boat and helped with our luggage, which we'd brought on scooters. Breakfast was pretty normal, nothing special, but good. Everyone was really nice. Love Thailand.
