Blue Hill Resort

The location was a challenge. It's very hilly, and the nearest corner shop or 7/11 is at least a 1 km walk along steep roads in 32C heat and strong sun. Taxis cost 100 baht per person even though the main area in Haad Rin is about a 7 minute drive away. A motorbike is 250 baht/day, which I'd recommend if you're comfortable riding on steep roads. You can also walk to town along the beach in about 20 minutes. It's much flatter than the roads, but still tiring. We had booked a sea-view villa, and the view was amazing. The room itself was nice and homely, though the bed was a little hard and the bathroom had no door, just a large open wall. The huge TV had netflix and youtube, which came in handy when it rained. Our AC didn't work at first. It took technicians about an hour to fix, and it only made a little difference. Housekeeping was very good and made our ridiculously messy room look brand new. The pool was nice, though quite small and with a higher than usual chlorine level. We enjoyed it anyway. There were also lots of bugs and mosquitoes because the place is built among trees. All the staff were really nice, but most didn't speak much English. The manager did, and it wasn't a problem for us. WiFi worked best by the pool or reception. We got a few bars near our room door. The outdoor lift up and down the hill between our room, the pool, and reception was extremely slow, and waiting for it could mean a long delay for what might have been a five minute walk. Some rooms, including ours, had no stairs access. It also couldn't be used while someone else was riding it, so we had to wait for them to reach their level even if it passed ours along the way.
