Double Duke Bungalows

The staff were friendly, and the spot was quiet and nicely located. I stopped in for lunch; the food was good and reasonably priced.

There’s a relaxed, familiar feel to the place. The man at the bar was always cheerful and sang a lot, and the staff were friendly with good service. My bungalow was very clean, with a huge veranda, a hammock and plenty of places to sit. The make-up desk being out on the veranda was funny. Breakfast was very good, and the beach was perfect.

The bay view is lovely, and I enjoyed the food at this little restaurant. There’s a sort of corner where children can stay safely and have fun, so it works well for families. Prices are a bit high, though you won’t find cheaper on that beach. For cheaper food, you’d need to head downtown. I’d recommend it.

The views are good and the place itself is nice, but I’m done eating here and would stick to drinks. I ordered chicken panang in Thai, asking for it not spicy and without anything green. What arrived was pale curry water with chicken slices and nothing else. Rice cost an extra 30thb. I was so stunned I forgot to take a photo. Worst Thai meal I’ve had in 10 years. The cook lady even came over to see if I was really eating it, which was funny or sad. I ate it just to piss her off.
