Relax Corner Inn - Hostel

A really laid-back hostel, and the staff are lovely and chatty. They put out free water, hot drinks and snacks, and the games in the common area make it easy to meet people. The beds are set up like pods, which feel special, almost like having your own room. I’d really recommend it for solo travellers.

I wouldn’t recommend it. Checking in was strangely complicated and took three people. They said reception offered 24-hour service and told us to ring if we needed anything, but nobody picked up. That made checkout stressful because we had a ferry to catch and everything was taking ages. The rooms were fine, just very loud, but you get what you pay for. I’m not convinced the sheets were cleaned between guests; mine had a bogie on the side. The oddest thing was that after we left, I tried to review the stay on Hostelworld and found they’d cancelled it, so I couldn’t.

The location was great, but the stay itself was awful. On the first night, another guest found bedbugs in her bed, and staff moved us to another room. They seemed unsure how to handle it and didn't seem particularly interested in fixing the problem. Then, in the middle of the second night, I woke up to a cockroach by my head. The bathrooms were disgusting, like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. When I mentioned the cockroach at checkout, the staff member said she didn't know what I meant. I explained it was a bug, but she didn't seem to care. The hostel also cancelled our Hostelworld booking, so we couldn't leave a bad review there.

The staff were so welcoming and lovely, and they even had free snacks. There's a pool table and a cosy shared space where plenty of people hung out each evening, so it still felt social. The hostel itself is pretty laid-back. If you fancy a louder night, two other hostels nearby have bars.
